Polypropylene Pedestals Achieve Cradle To Cradle Certified® Bronze

18 January 2024

Here at Buzon, contributing to a sustainable circular economy is important to us, and our commitment to using recycled and recyclable materials has been at the forefront of our manufacturing process for many years.

That is why we strive to make sure that our products have a positive impact, not just on you, your clients and projects, but on the environment, too.

With that in mind, we are immensely proud to say that three of our popular polypropylene pedestal products ranges have been independently assessed by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, and have achieved Cradle To Cradle Certified at the Bronze Level.

What does this mean for you and for the environment when purchasing our pedestals?

More About Cradle To Cradle Certified®

Cradle to Cradle Certified® is an independent product certification awarded by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. By setting forth globally recognised, science-based requirements for material health, product circularity, renewable energy and climate, water and soil stewardship and social fairness, Cradle to Cradle Certified is a comprehensive one-standard solution for companies working to implement circular business models and address global sustainable development concerns like water and sanitation, energy and carbon and climate action.

As a result, thousands of products are Cradle to Cradle Certified, and a growing number of global brands, organisations and standards recognize Cradle to Cradle Certified as a preferred product standard for responsible purchasing.

The concept is rooted in the idea of creating products and systems that mimic nature's sustainability and regenerative processes, emphasising a circular and restorative approach to products, with the goal of eliminating the concept of waste altogether.

Key principles of Cradle to Cradle Certified design include:

Material Health: Products should be made from materials that are safe and healthy for humans and the environment.

Product Circularity: Products should be designed for disassembly and recycling. Materials used in a product should be easily separated and reused in the manufacturing of new products.

Renewable Energy: The manufacturing process should be powered by renewable energy sources to minimise the environmental impact and reduce dependence on finite resources.

Water Stewardship: The use of water in the manufacturing process should be responsible and considerate of local ecosystems, minimising water consumption and ensuring that water is returned in a clean and safe state.

Social Responsibility: Cradle to Cradle Certified considers the social impact of products, aiming to create positive effects on local communities and workers. Fair labour practices and ethical considerations are important aspects of the philosophy.

Ultimately, the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard provides this framework to assess the safety, circularity and responsibility of materials and products across five categories of sustainability performance:

So, how do Buzon’s products contribute to this framework?

Buzon: How Our Products Are Contributing

When it comes to being Cradle To Cradle Certified, the certification levels are Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, representing increasing levels of sustainability and achievement.

Our BC, DPH and PB ranges have all achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified at the Bronze level.

This certification indicates a commitment to sustainable and responsible practices and provides consumers and stakeholders with a transparent and credible way to identify products.

All three of these pedestal ranges include pedestals and a suite of accessories including spacer tabs, joist supports, edging details and slope correction, offering solutions for all situations.

DPH Adjustable Pedestal System:

With an adjustable height range of 12 to 1070mm, this polypropylene pedestal is versatile for creating raised floors and external terraces, supporting various floor coverings, including large-format concrete.

The reinforced structure ensures durability even under heavy use and the design includes integrated slope correction, making it suitable for projects involving falls. Additionally, it offers the flexibility to create ramps and slopes, with up to 5% slope correction built into the head and the possibility of an additional 10% through accessories.
