New River Head

New River Head is a historic site located adjacent to Sadler’s Wells Theatre on Rosebery Avenue in the Clerkenwell area of London, England. Originally it was the London terminus of the New River, an artificial watercourse opened in 1613 to supply water to London. Subsequently the site also became the headquarters for the New River Company, the owners of the New River, and for its successors, the Metropolitan Water Board, the Thames Water Authority and Thames Water plc.

Now converted in to a residential development, Buzon UK Ltd were contracted to install the ZERODECK + A-PED system on a private roof terrace on one of the apartments. With the natural fall of the roof, the void varied from 130 – 170mm so the A-PED was the perfect choice with its integrated slope correction functionality and wide load-spreading base which allowed installation directly on top the waterproof membrane. ZERODECK was clip-fixed to the A-PED-JOIST to give a perfect finish.

The client required steps from the access door down to the terrace and so the installation team attached ZERODECK boards to a rail-based frame, surface mounting the fascia boards and clip-fixing the steps.

The full system, from the pedestal right up to the surface finish, (ZERODECK from Alfresco Floors) forms a Class A fire-rated system and meets the clients requirements for a non-combustible terrace.
