As part of The Ritz London’s extensive £300 million refurbishment, William Kent House, a listed building owned by The Ritz since 2006, has been transformed into a new restaurant space, provisionally known as The Winter Garden.
The building features a striking modern rooflight and a new rooftop area designed primarily for maintenance access. Although not publicly accessible, the roof is highly visible from surrounding hotel bedrooms, making aesthetics just as important as performance.
Buzon installed a fire-rated raised paving system, incorporating A-PED adjustable pedestals, joists and large-format 1200x600x20mm porcelain paving. The system provides a durable, level surface while creating accessible space beneath the paving for maintenance.
The installation required meticulous setting out and precision cutting around the rooflight, downpipes and other complex details to achieve a clean, refined snag-free finish that complements the exceptional surroundings of The Ritz.
The result is a discreet, high-performance rooftop solution combining fire-rated construction, practical maintenance access and architectural aesthetics.
