At Corner House, a residential development in London's Fitzrovia, three terraces underwent refurbishment, replacing the original timber decking with a Class A fire-rated decking system.
Buzon's A-PED metal pedestal and rail system was selected to provide a non-combustible supporting structure for the new porcelain decking, supplied by The Outdoor Deck Company. Covering a combined area of 92 m², the system was installed across all three terraces, with the existing roof waterproofing membrane retained beneath. On the largest terrace, closer joist centres were incorporated into the design in one corner to accommodate the anticipated load of a hot tub.
The completed refurbishment demonstrates how existing roof terraces can benefit from improved fire performance without the need for extensive changes to the existing roof structure.
